PET LOSS GROUP
Losing a beloved pet can be a life-changing experience, which will often trigger a profound sense of grief and range of other emotions. Often, the significance of our special relationships with our animal companions is not acknowledged or understood by society at large, and sometimes even by the well-meaning people in our lives.
During this six-week group, you will share your experiences, receive support and honour your pets within a like-minded community. Each session will include a helpful educational component related to the grieving process, an interactive activity, and time to talk about your memories of your companion pet. Topics addressed will include the following:
- the human-animal bond
- disenfranchised grief and the importance of mourning as a community
- the grieving cycle
- coping and caring for ourselves during our loss,
- meaning reconstruction and other theories
- the use of ritual.
Sunday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m., April 22 - June 3 (minus May 20), $120 for the six session series
