Pet Cremations

Can I tour Until We Meet Again Pet Memorial Center prior to my pet's cremation?

Absolutely, we appreciate that having a chance to see our center and meet our team can help alleviate any apprehension you may be feeling.  We are always glad to have the opportunity to meet the families that we serve. You should never have your pet cremated somewhere that will not allow you to see the facility.  You may not really want to tour the facility, but the service provider should say yes when you ask if you can.

May I be present during the cremation?

At Until We Meet Again this service is called a Scheduled Cremation.  For some people being able to come to our center to say a final farewell is an integral part of their healing process.  For others, being close to their pet during the cremation process, gives them peace of mind.
 
A Scheduled Cremation is special time set aside for a family.  Some choose to only be present at the beginning of the cremation, while others choose to stay for the entire process, which takes approximately 1 ½ - 3 hours depending on the size of the pet.
For those planning to stay we offer a tranquil reflection room for the family's use.  The reflection room has been used in different ways including the following:
•Service with reception
•Prayers
•Singing and playing music
•Quiet meditation

My pet had surgery and has a metal plate and screws, what happens to this metal during cremation?

Generally, plates, screws, wire, and D-rings from collars are perfectly intact at the end of the cremation process. Until We Meet Again returns these items to the family.  

How can I be sure that I will get my pet's ashes back?

When a pet first comes into our care, whether at a veterinarian's office, at a family's home or our center identifying information is collected and checked.  When a pet arrives at our center the collected information is checked again and the pet is assigned a uniquely numbered disc (Memorial Verification Process) similar to the discs used in the human industry.  The pet's disc and paperwork are cross-referenced 2 more times during the process to ensure accuracy.  

Secondly, we are one of only three pet crematoriums in British Columbia certified by the PLPA (Pet Loss Professional Alliance), which is a division of ICCFA (International Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Association).  The PLPA is a group of like-minded pet loss care providers who are working to foster a high level of ethics and training within our profession.  We are focused on establishing sound business practices and standards among our ranks and on promoting the value of quality pet loss care to veterinarians and the public.  We are a proud member of this professional alliance, with an eye to the future when all pet crematoriums/pet funeral homes will be held to the same high standards and ethics as human crematoriums/funeral homes.

I have chosen a group cremation for my pet, where will my pet's cremated remains go?

We are so fortunate to have available to us a meadow on private grounds in the Fraser Valley, to scatter group cremated remains.  If you are not using Until We Meet Again, be sure to ask where the final resting place is.  The “disposal” of group, cremated remains is not regulated and a garbage transfer station is considered by some providers to be "acceptable."
